Construction

I have built kit strictly out of box. First layer is Tamiya Surface primer white. Next layer is GSI Mr. Color Silver C8. Next I have done preshading with heavily thinned mix of Tamiya acrylic paints. I have used mix of black and red brown. I have thinned with 50% paint and 50% isopropyl alcohol. I have used for basic camouflage GSI Mr. Color acrylic paints (FS 35189 C367 and FS 26440 C325). Paints are thinned with Mr. Color Levelling Thinner (1:2). Highlighting is done with airbrush. This is mix of original shade with a little white or another light gray. Ratio of thinning is 20% paint and 80% Mr. Color Levelling Thinner. Flag on the rudder is sprayed with GSI Aqueous Hobby acrylic paints. When camouflage is done, I have airbrushed Mr. Color C184 Clear gloss varnish. I have applying decals with help GSI Mr. Setter and GSI Mr. Softer. Above dry decals I have airbrushed further layer Mr. Color C184 Clear gloss varnish. Next work is washing aircraft with heavily thinned artist oil paint. Final layer is Mr. Color C184 Clear flat varnish. In the end I have dry brushed all surfaces with white and blue artist oil paint and I have sprayed with airbrush small patches heavily thinned mix of Tamiya black and red brown (5% paint and 95% isopropyl alcohol) My aircraft presented F2A-3 Buffalo, MCAS Ewa, assigned to VMF-221, Hawaii, April 1942
