Introduction

With the appearance of the Trumpeter USS Nimitz on the market a growing interest shown by modelers to build a newer carrier of the Nimitz class. Some of the modelers reported that the Trumpeter F/A-18E Super Hornets are undersized a bit, so WEM released this multimedia kit.

First Impressions

The packaging was convincing as usual, this time the Superbugs were placed in a small hard paper box. There you can find the zip bag, with the 2 other zip bags containing the kit parts.

Overview

This set is a multimedia set, it contains 2 sets of the resin aircrafts, white metal landing gears, and the PE fret. The vertical stabilizers are bent, this is a problem that WEM had to face to. They resolved this problem with adding extra stabilizers to the pack, so you can simply cut the bent ones, and attach the perfect ones.

There are two options for the landing gears. There's a PE versions, and the white metal version. It's up to you which one you prefer, both are included. The fret contains the front and main landing gear parts, the wheel well doors, and the pylons.

Conclusion

Although this kit is better in size, you have to cut the wings off of you want to fold them, and doesn't have a clear canopy. With some modeling skills these issues can be resolved. You have to choose if you want to use the original, a bit undersized Superbugs with clear canopy and easy to fold wings, or this one with some additional work.

Whichever you choose, WEM can offer good options for you! This kit has the 2 resin aircrafts with the PE set included, but if you want to use the Trumpeter's offering, WEM designed the PE set for it with the usual incredible cockpits and bits...I'll post a review on this set too soon.
